Residential Energy Storage

Located in Ilmenau, Germany, the home of Dr. Fischer has a high annual electricity demand driven primarily by an electric heat pump and an electric vehicle. To reduce reliance on the grid and maximize the use of renewable energy, Sunvitec GmbH installed a SolaX residential energy storage solution combining a 24 kWp photovoltaic system with 30 kWh of battery storage.

The system consists of two SolaX X3-IES systems, delivering a total inverter output of 24 kW and 30 kWh of battery storage capacity. The solution enables the household to cover approximately 70–80% of its annual electricity demand with solar energy while providing reliable power for heating, hot water, cooling, and EV charging.

SolaX Solution

Sunvitec selected SolaX as its preferred solution provider and installed:

·  24 kWp photovoltaic system

·  30 kWh battery storage capacity

·  2 × SolaX X3-IES systems

·  24 kW total inverter capacity

The solution offers a high charge and discharge rate, allowing the 30 kWh battery storage system to efficiently handle high household energy demand.

The system also features a high level of pre-assembly, including stackable battery modules and integrated master BMS architecture. In this project, a dual-BMS configuration enables two parallel systems to operate together, simplifying installation and system integration.

The compact wall-mounted design allows the inverters and battery storage units to fit neatly into the basement, minimizing the space required while maintaining a clean installation.

Project Results

Following installation, the SolaX system delivered significant benefits for the household:

·  Approximately 70–80% of annual electricity demand covered by solar energy

·  Reduced reliance on grid electricity

·  Reliable energy supply for heating and hot water throughout the year

·  Solar-powered cooling during periods of high summer temperatures

·  Greater use of surplus solar energy for household consumption and EV charging

·  Compact and space-efficient installation in the basement

·  Easy system monitoring and control via the mobile app

·  Simplified installation thanks to a high level of pre-assembly

·  Fast technical support and responsive after-sales service

The project demonstrates how a properly sized PV and battery storage system can help high-consumption households improve energy independence, maximize self-consumption, and make better use of renewable energy throughout the year.
